An All-Sky Map Charts Half a Million Supermassive Black Holes
The Sloan Digital Sky Survey released a catalog placing roughly half a million supermassive black holes across the entire sky, the largest such map assembled. It turns objects once studied one at a time into a population with statistics, structure and a distribution that cosmologists can now argue about quantitatively.
