A California Wildfire Allegedly Sparked by a Chainsaw Kills at Least One

At least one person has died in the Gann fire, which has burned more than 15 square miles across Calaveras County in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Police arrested Herbert Wayne Smith, 65, in connection with the blaze, which investigators say was started by a chainsaw — another human-caused fire in a season already defined by them.
