California pair plead not guilty to child-abuse charges

Guojun Xuan and Silvia Zhang pleaded not guilty after prosecutors charged them over alleged abuse of surrogate-born children, BBC News and the Los Angeles Times report. Authorities removed 21 children from their custody last year; prosecutors allege repeated abuse. Their lawyer disputes the allegations and says a nanny was fired. Guilt has not been established.
