The Remains of 56 People Are Found Decomposing at a Chicago Funeral Home

Neighbors complained about the stench. Officials who entered a Chicago funeral home Thursday found the remains of 56 people improperly stored and decomposing in what they described as “deplorable conditions.” The operators are linked to a crematory previously shut down for mishandling remains, and families are now being told to come identify relatives they buried in their minds years ago.
