Community excavations reveal Scotland’s early Lismore monastery

Community-led excavations on Scotland’s island of Lismore uncovered early buildings, burial grounds and evidence of precious-metal working at Lios Mòr, according to an Antiquity study reported by Phys.org. The findings give archaeological support to a monastery previously known mainly from written records and local tradition; researchers are still assessing its full extent.
