Dodos Were Probably Far Cleverer Than History Recorded

New research on dodo brain anatomy indicates the bird had a well-developed sense of smell and a brain size consistent with an ordinary, capable pigeon relative. The “stupid dodo” reputation appears to be an artifact of sailors’ accounts, not biology.
