Five U.S. Cities Hire a Sidewalk-Surveying Robot Named 'Dax'

An Oregon-built robot called Dax debuted this summer in five U.S. cities to survey and help repair sidewalks. The machine maps cracks and trip hazards that municipal crews then prioritize. Residents, especially children, have taken to the small rolling unit on their streets.
