The Forest Service Chief's Logging Ties Draw Scrutiny as Trump Targets Roadless Protections

Research by the nonprofit Public Citizen says U.S. Forest Service chief Tom Schultz previously represented timber companies that stand to benefit from rescinding the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule. The rule limits development across roughly 45 million acres of national forest. The administration announced plans this month to roll it back.
