A High-Resolution Photo Shows a Sand-Capped Butte on a Martian Plain of Polygons

A new high-resolution image shows an isolated butte capped with dark sand rising above a Martian plain patterned with polygonal cracks. The polygons form as ground ice expands and contracts. The butte is what is left after everything around it eroded away.
