India's Asiatic Lion Population Grows 70 Percent in a Decade

Asiatic lions in western India have increased 70 percent over the past decade, and their range has grown 15 percent. The Greater Gir Landscape in Gujarat now holds 891 lions, up from 523 in 2015. Conservationists credit sustained habitat protection.
