India’s youth protest leaders freed as voter-roll demonstrations continue

Three leaders of India’s youth-led Cockroach movement were released after detention and vowed to continue voter-roll protests, AP reports. Police broke up smaller demonstrations Sunday. Critics allege politically motivated removals; the Election Commission and Modi’s party deny manipulation. The effect of a one-year peace condition on the leaders’ participation remains unclear.
