Iowa researchers track monarch migration with tiny radio tags

Iowa State University researchers are tracking 100 monarch butterflies with lightweight Bluetooth tags as they migrate toward Mexico, according to the university’s news video and a Phys.org report. The study compares 75 butterflies raised under different conditions with 25 caught in the wild. Volunteers can help detect tags through an app; results on survival and migration routes are still pending.
