A 'Join, or Die' Sculpture Is Taking Shape in Philadelphia, Segment by Segment

John Collins's 46-foot granite serpent, inspired by Benjamin Franklin's 18th-century call for colonial unity, is being installed one segment at a time on Independence Mall. The full work is slated to be unveiled this fall.
