Kimberly-Clark Will Make Toilet Paper From a Desert Succulent

Kimberly-Clark plans to make tissue products from hesperaloe, a cactus-like succulent native to the Southwest desert, as a way to reduce its use of wood pulp. The plant needs little water and grows on marginal land. The company says fiber from the succulent performs comparably in testing.
