Malicious Google ads imitate frozen computers to push support scams

Netskope researchers found ads that displayed fake security warnings and made Windows and Mac browsers appear frozen, Ars Technica reports. The goal was to drive people to bogus support numbers, where scammers sought payments or remote access. Google said it was investigating; the apparent lockup was a browser trick, not proof of an infected computer.
