Monty Roberts, Who Trained Horses Through Trust, Dies at 91

Monty Roberts rejected the violence of “breaking” a horse and built a method from the animals’ own nonverbal language, watching wild mustangs until he could hold a conversation in it. The internationally acclaimed horseman, who described his approach on Fresh Air in 1997, has died at 91.
