NASA opens a citizen-science project to map overlapping galaxies

NASA described Overlap Zoo, a citizen-science project asking volunteers to identify and classify pairs of galaxies that line up in telescope images. Those alignments can let astronomers study dust in the foreground galaxy; the volunteer work is meant to build a catalog for future research, not to announce new findings yet.
