Flesh-Eating Screwworms Are Infecting Humans in Mexico as Cases Top 500
Human screwworm infections in Mexico have passed 500, with six deaths reported and one directly attributed to the flies, whose larvae burrow into living tissue. The parasite was eradicated from North America decades ago; its return, moving steadily north, has ranchers and public health officials watching the same map for different reasons.
