Sniffer Dogs Are Fighting Invasive Mussels in Alberta’s Rivers

Invasive Asian mussels have met their match in Alberta’s riverine sniffer dogs, a K9 unit the provincial government has run for more than a decade to keep zebra and golden mussels from colonizing its rivers and lakes. The dogs find contaminated boats that inspectors would otherwise wave through.
