Eastern Mediterranean Sperm Whales Appear to Speak a Distinct Dialect

Sperm whales in the eastern Mediterranean appear to have developed a distinct 'dialect' from their western counterparts. Sound recordings suggest the eastern whales use a sped-up version of the click patterns, or codas, once thought to unify all Mediterranean sperm whales into a single cultural group.
