Stone molds reveal Neanderthals’ wooden tools in Spain

Researchers cataloged 597 wooden remains at Spain’s Abric Romaní rock shelter, including 13 objects modified or made by Neanderthals, Ars Technica reports. Mineral deposits preserved molds after the wood decayed. The findings suggest varied woodworking, but the proposed uses of some trays and poles remain interpretations.
