A Priest Was Killed in Sudan, and His Parish Is Still in Mourning

Upper Kauda St. Vincent Catholic Parish in Sudan's Nuba Mountains had long served as a place of worship, education and humanitarian care for a community living inside a war. On June 19 it came under attack after a 48-hour ultimatum from a local Muslim commander, and the parish priest was killed. Weeks later the congregation is still mourning and still meeting, with no protection beyond the distance between them and the front.
