A Firm Buys a Texas Coal Plant to Use Its Grid Connections for Solar

Energy investment firm Panamint is putting up $1.7 billion to buy a Texas coal plant, largely for the value of its existing grid interconnection. The site would be redeveloped for a large solar project. Interconnection queues have become the main bottleneck for new renewable capacity.
