Worked wood beneath German lake may reveal Mesolithic structures

Archaeologists recovered worked wood estimated at 10,500 years old beneath Germany’s Lake Arendsee, the Saxony-Anhalt state archaeology office reports through Phys.org. A post with felling marks and split boards may have belonged to structures predating farming in the region. Whether they came from huts or another construction remains under investigation; no dwelling has been confirmed.
