Francis Halzen wins physics Nobel for cosmic neutrino discoveries

Francis Halzen won the physics Nobel for contributions to IceCube and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos from space, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and DW report. The Antarctic observatory uses sensors in a cubic kilometre of ice to trace these particles, opening a way to study distant cosmic sources beyond ordinary light.
