Meta Agrees to an $18 Billion Child-Safety Settlement With the States

Meta has agreed to pay more than $18 billion to states to settle claims that Facebook and Instagram harmed young users. The proposed deal, which still needs a judge’s approval, would also impose daily usage limits for minors and other design changes. Florida rejected the terms as inadequate, and child-safety advocates say states could have demanded more.
