Native planting begins slow recovery of Yosemite meadows

Colorado State University researchers planted 40,000 native sedges in Yosemite’s Tuolumne Meadows and monitored them for three years, Phys.org reports. Soil organic matter improved, but the meadow still lost carbon overall. The study supports restoration while cautioning that recovery from historic grazing damage could take decades.
