Security footage of an Australian nurse using a decade of Brazilian jiu-jitsu training to control a violent, intoxicated patient at a Brisbane hospital has gone viral. Daniel Nelson, who is also registered in the Australian Army, posted the 2024 clip himself. Nurses circulating it have used the moment less as entertainment than as evidence: assaults on hospital staff are common, and most nurses have no training of any kind for them.
