Researchers describe two sea-spider species from the Salish Sea

University of British Columbia researchers have described two sea-spider species in work combining microscopy and DNA analysis, the university reports. Specimens were collected in 2023–24; the announcement preceded NPR’s Sunday interview with the lead researcher. The findings improve identification of coastal marine life, rather than documenting animals that only recently appeared.
