Researchers head to Pacific island to test possible Earhart wreck site

An Archaeological Legacy Institute and Purdue University team is traveling to Nikumaroro to inspect an object that could be Amelia Earhart’s aircraft, BBC News reports. The expedition expects to arrive Monday. Rival researchers question whether the object is an aircraft at all; no wreck has been identified, and previous search claims have proved mistaken.
