Serbia’s Vučić resigns presidency ahead of early elections

Aleksandar Vučić resigned as Serbia’s president Sunday after more than a year of anti-corruption protests, the BBC reports. Having announced his intention in June, he now plans to seek the premiership through October’s parliamentary election. Parliamentary speaker Ana Brnabić will serve as interim president until a presidential vote; resignation does not mean Vučić is leaving politics.
