Six smugglers convicted over Channel disaster that killed 31
A Paris court convicted six smugglers of involuntary homicide and sentenced them to six to 10 years over the 2021 English Channel sinking that killed 31 migrants, the BBC reports. Seven others received lesser sentences and one was acquitted. A separate investigation into seven French military personnel accused of failing to answer distress calls continues.
