Physicists Create the Smallest Version Yet of the Early Universe's Plasma

Physicists have produced the extreme state of matter that filled the early universe using far smaller atomic collisions than previously thought possible. The result redefines how large atoms need to be to generate a quark-gluon plasma. Researchers say the miniature experiments give a cheaper way to study conditions moments after the Big Bang.
