A Star Circles the Milky Way's Black Hole at Record Speed

Astronomers have clocked a star travelling up to 56 million miles per hour, about 8 percent the speed of light, as it swings around the center of the Milky Way. The star passes unusually close to the galaxy's supermassive black hole. Its orbit offers a new way to test how the black hole warps space around it.
