Superconducting vortex experiment approaches the minimum energy for memory

via Phys.org·17h ago

Phys.org reports that Hebrew University researchers stored a bit in a superconducting vortex and erased it using about five times the theoretical minimum energy. The device operates around four kelvin. It is a laboratory result, and the cooling requirements and scale leave practical computing applications uncertain.
