via Wired·21h ago·2 sources

Gemini North images resolve Pa 30’s filaments into chains of gas knots about four light-days across, WIRED reports, citing researchers’ published study. Their regular size and alignment remain unexplained. Pa 30 is considered the likely remnant of the supernova recorded in 1181, and its surviving central star may help researchers understand incomplete stellar explosions.
