Hybrid quantum experiment simulates a foundational interference effect

via Phys.org·19h ago·2 sources

Oxford researchers combined trapped-ion qubits and oscillators to simulate the Aharonov–Bohm effect, Phys.org reports from the university’s account. Magnetic flux encoded in qubits caused interference that suppressed a simulated particle’s tunneling around a loop. The experiment extends quantum simulation techniques; it does not establish a practical computing advantage on an industrial problem.
