Physicists propose a framework for classifying open quantum systems

via Phys.org·13h ago

University of Illinois physicists developed stability criteria for distinguishing phases of quantum systems that interact with their surroundings, Phys.org reports. Their Physical Review X paper extends an entanglement-based classification approach to mixed states. The theoretical framework may help quantum research, but the report does not establish a practical computing breakthrough.
