Plants change gene activity within minutes of spaceflight

via Phys.org·4h ago

A University of Florida study in npj Microgravity found changes in more than 1,200 genes during a 2024 suborbital flight, Phys.org reports. Researchers preserved Arabidopsis samples at four flight stages and compared them with ground controls. Responses varied by tissue and flight phase; the study measures early adaptation rather than proving crops can thrive in space.
