Quantum-computing method simulates particle production on 104 qubits

via Phys.org·17h ago·2 sources

Researchers used a new method to prepare wavepackets and simulate collisions on a 104-qubit IBM processor, Phys.org reports. The September study used a simplified one-dimensional model; measurements supported production of a heavier particle at higher energies. The method reduces preparation costs; realistic three-dimensional particle physics still requires further research and more capable hardware.
