Radio observations may reveal an exoplanet’s magnetic field

via Smithsonian Magazine·13h ago·2 sources

Astronomers detected radio emissions they associate with Beta Pictoris b, a young planet about 63 light-years away, Smithsonian Magazine reports. They interpret the signals as evidence of a strong magnetic field and auroral activity. The preprint was posted September 15 and awaits peer review; further observations are needed to test the interpretation.
