Snails Tune Their Slime to Be Sticky, Slippery, Foamy or Hard
Snails can adjust the properties of their mucus on demand, producing slime that is sticky, slippery, foamy or hardened depending on the situation. Researchers traced the changes to how the animals mix and secrete different components. The findings interest engineers working on adaptive adhesives.
