A 'Wood Foam' Startup Turns Logging Waste Into a Plastic Substitute
Researchers at the University of British Columbia developed a "wood foam" made from low-value timber waste as a replacement for plastic packaging. A startup is now producing about 400 pounds a day. The approach targets both plastic pollution and underused byproducts of the timber industry.
