Cretaceous mammal fossil shows evidence of three tooth generations

Phys.org reports that CT scans of the roughly 120-million-year-old Dongoconodon platycauda fossil revealed evidence of three tooth generations and a connection between jaw and middle-ear bones. The Nature Communications study also interprets its feet and tail as swimming adaptations. These conclusions concern one specimen, distinct from the recently reported Jurassic Megacauda fossil.
