Freezing experiments offer explanation for Enceladus’ varied ice grains

via Phys.org·9h ago·2 sources

Scientists found that slowly frozen droplets modeled on Enceladus’ ocean separated into chemically distinct regions, Phys.org reports, corroborated by the Institute of Science Tokyo’s September 28 release. The team says freezing and fragmentation could explain salts measured in Cassini’s plume samples. The laboratory mechanism has not been observed inside the moon’s vents and does not establish life.
