Lab compound blocks energy production in a drug-resistant bacterium

NTU researchers designed a compound that blocks an energy-producing enzyme in Mycobacterium abscessus, Phys.org reports. Combined with clofazimine, it reduced bacteria by two logs over four days in laboratory tests. The work remains preclinical; the report describes patent and licensing activity, without demonstrated patient benefit.
